About Avocation Games
Avocation Games is a free website of new, original games you can play online in your browser. Every game is created by an independent game designer and is available only at avocationgames.com. There’s nothing to download and no account to create: choose a game and play against a computer opponent on your phone, tablet or computer.
The name comes from the word avocation, a pursuit followed for pleasure apart from one’s main work. That’s the spirit of the site: thoughtful games for your free time, quick to learn and rewarding to master.
New card games you won’t find anywhere else
Most free card game sites offer the same classics, such as Solitaire, FreeCell and Hearts. Avocation Games offers original card games with rules written for this site. Battle Columns, Suitlock, Battle for Aces and Race for Royals all use standard 52-card decks, so the cards are familiar even when the game is new.

What is a standard-deck card game?
A standard deck has 52 cards in four suits: spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs, each running from Ace through 10 to the face cards Jack, Queen and King. Playing cards have been used in Europe since the late 1300s, and countless games have been invented for this same deck. Avocation Games adds new ones to that tradition.
More games are on the way, and not only card games. New puzzle and strategy games will be added over time.
